In a significant step toward improving Pakistan’s passport and immigration services, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi inaugurated a new, state-of-the-art immigration and passport office in Islamabad on Thursday.

During the inauguration ceremony, the interior minister highlighted the government’s efforts to streamline passport issuance and eliminate backlogs that have plagued the system in the past. “I am pleased to announce that there is no more backlog of passports in the country,” Naqvi stated, underscoring the government’s commitment to providing efficient and timely services to citizens.

The newly inaugurated office boasts modern facilities and advanced technology designed to expedite the passport application and issuance process. The development is expected to enhance the overall experience for Pakistani nationals applying for passports and visas.

In addition to the new office, the interior minister announced the establishment of passport counters at NADRA offices in several cities across Pakistan. This initiative aims to further decentralise passport services, making them more accessible to citizens in different regions of the country.

Naqvi emphasised that these steps are part of a broader effort to modernise and improve public service delivery across Pakistan. The new immigration and passport office is expected to serve as a model for other regions, with plans for similar upgrades in the future.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Interior, NADRA, and other government departments, as well as members of the public.
